Email: Website: http:// Article: SGI = Silicon Graphics Incorporated or some other company I word. their workstations are simply the best you can possibly buy for graphics. Gerry is correct- if you could get one, it'd be the best thing there is.But, I don't think you ought to. 1) They are terribly expensive, last I checked. Even more so than the high-end Power Mac models. (correct me if I am wrong, Gerry). 2) They do, as gerry said, run unix. Or, at least, one flavor of unix. Unix has a gui (that thing with all the pretty pictures that represent files) but is terribly confusing to the computer illiterate. You are no doubt intelligent enough to figure it out, but you probably don't want to invest the necessary time. If you are going to spend that sort of money, I suppose, you ought to get something you won't have to really spend time learning to use, I suspect. Or, if you are going cheap, just go cheap. yeah. More rambling? Only if you want.--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Replying to Original Article:Article: Liz's #1 priority for non-Apple computers: CHEAP! So what you are talking about is probably not what I need (more proof-->I don't know WHAT you are talking about: I know very little about computers, and learning Unix sounds hard, though I don't actually know what it is. Remember, I'm the one having a rotton time learning html, though I realized that in fact the university's method of giving students web space is rather poor, espcially since they require people to ftp everything to then yet make it impossible to access dos from the computer labs).--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
