Apples are cool and I know quite a bit about using them including more than anyone should have to know about adobe pagemaker (thank you LHS newpaper), so if I go expensive, I'll get an Apple. I told my mom about me possibley returning to Buddy Holly Land and she said if I do, she'll probably get a computer, but it'll have to be compatable with her work computer which is a PC, so that might eliminate MY choice right there. But I don't mind if I'm not buying the thing.--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Replying to Original Article:Article: SGI = Silicon Graphics Incorporated or some other company I word. their workstations are simply the best you can possibly buy for graphics. Gerry is correct- if you could get one, it'd be the best thing there is.But, I don't think you ought to. 1) They are terribly expensive, last I checked. Even more so than the high-end Power Mac models. (correct me if I am wrong, Gerry). 2) They do, as gerry said, run unix. Or, at least, one flavor of unix. Unix has a gui (that thing with all the pretty pictures that represent files) but is terribly confusing to the computer illiterate. You are no doubt intelligent enough to figure it out, but you probably don't want to invest the necessary time. If you are going to spend that sort of money, I suppose, you ought to get something you won't have to really spend time learning to use, I suspect. Or, if you are going cheap, just go cheap. yeah. More rambling? Only if you want.--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
